A Texas Master Certified Nursery Professional is a nursery professional
who has achieved TCNP status, and then taken a week-long training
course at Texas A&M University followed by passing a qualification
exam. This course is offered in even-numbered years only. On the
alternate years TNLA offers a special Master's Level review course.
The TMCNP program seeks to provide an opportunity for the professional
who has made a commitment to excellence.
Why be a TMCNP?
To challenge your mind, increase your knowledge, spend time devoted
100% to horticulture in the company of the best experts Texas has
to offer.
The Program
The Texas Master Certified Nursery Professional (TMCNP) Program
provides an intensive summary of skills and knowledge that you have
already acquired, and updates that knowledge with the latest research
and technology. The course consists of five days (Monday through
Friday) of classroom study and laboratory work followed by an examination.
Instructors are from Texas A&M University andTexas Cooperative
Extension.
An overall grade of 70 is required to pass the examination and
earn the TMCNP credential. If an applicant does not achieve a score
of 70, the entire program and examination must be repeated for certification.
Although an applicant does not have to attend the classroom portion
of the program in order to take the examination, it is highly advisable
to do so. The exam questions are formulated from classroom lectures.
Tests become the property of TNLA and the results remain confidential.
