(5/2/08)Manager of Grounds Maintenance Full-time, exempt position responsible for the management of grounds maintenance activities and motor pool. Responsibilities:Planning, organizing, directing and coordinating the day to day work programs for overall management of grounds for university and surrounding area.Provide attractive, safe, and clean outdoor environment by maintaining and improving turf, landscaped areas, trees, shrubs, sidewalks, parking lots, roads, fences, irrigation systems, signage, outside trash disposal, animal control, and athletic fields.
QUALIFICATIONS: Proficiency with Microsoft Office products to include Word and Excel is required; PowerPoint and Access desired. Excellent oral, verbal, and written communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of automotive/equipment maintenance procedures and techniques. Bachelor or Science degree in agriculture or horticulture is desired. Six (6) or more year’s active experience in horticulture and grounds maintenance and three (3) or more years experience in a supervisory capacity of six (6) or more people. Experience with native South Texas plants or adaptive plants desired.

Requirements
Qualified candidates will possess hands-on sales experience, preferably in the Agricultural industry, either in the area of pre-finished or finished plants. Experience in the hard-goods segment of the business is also desirable. Applicant must be a self-starter with both strong written and verbal communication skills. The individual must also possess strong personal computer skills. Willingness to travel is required.
