The Region VIII March meeting was held at the Waller Creek Center in Austin on March 11. Special thanks to guest speaker Karen Stewart, water conservation specialist with the Austin Water Utility. Karen spoke on new irrigation design rules and water restrictions.

CITY OF AUSTIN RELEASES NEW WATERING REGULATIONS (8/14/07)
V iew details at the City of Austin web page.Handwatering (nurseries etc) is allowed at any time. Large properties that can not water all in one day will have to apply for a variance. According to Karen Stuart with the City of Austin, the city has an existing variance form for new landscapes for watering during the day for one week. That will remain the same, except that it will be year around instead of just the summer months. You can contact Karen Stewart, Water Conservation Specialist, Sr., Austin Water Utility, (512) 974-2978,   fax  974-6548 with questions.Work on new sprinkler installation rules is underway.
